Emergency Septic Service in Lake Worth Beach, FL

Emergency Septic Service · Lake Worth Beach, FL

When sewage comes back up into the house

The toilet backs up and will not go down, or sewage comes up through the shower drain. Emergency septic service is for that call. Stop using water in the house and keep everyone away from the sewage. Then call or text (561) 239-5838.

Jojo Septic handles septic backups across Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. The cause can sit in the tank or in the line that runs to it. When the tank is the cause, the fix might be septic tank pumping or septic tank repair. Either way, we look at the job and put the quote in writing before work starts.

What counts as a septic emergency?

Sewage coming back into the house is the clearest sign. Florida's septic owner's guide says a failing system can push sewage into your house or onto your yard. The same guide says untreated sewage contains disease-causing germs and may seep into drinking water wells.

Treat sewage in the house or the yard as urgent, and call or text (561) 239-5838. Slow drains and gurgling pipes give you more warning. The EPA lists both as signs of a failing system, so they are worth a call as well.

What to do when your septic system backs up

Stop running water first. Hold off on laundry and showers, and flush as little as you can. Every gallon that goes down a drain adds to the backup.

Keep all people and pets away from the sewage, as UF/IFAS Extension advises. Anyone cleaning up should wear boots and waterproof gloves. Wash your hands well after any contact.

Leave the septic tank lid closed. EPA guidance warns that septic tanks may contain dangerous gases. Keep cars off the ground over the tank and drainfield, as the state guide advises.

What causes a septic backup in a South Florida home?

A clog in the line to the tank can back up a toilet while the tank works fine. Hydro jetting can clear that line with high-pressure water. At the tank, the state's septic guide names excess solids or a clogged or damaged filter as causes of failure.

Past the tank, the drainfield needs dry soil under it. UF/IFAS Extension ranks the depth of that dry soil among the biggest factors in how a system works. When that soil gets soaked, the system cannot do its job as well.

In South Florida, rain is a big part of that picture. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals put Palm Beach International Airport at about 62 inches of rain a year. Most of it falls from June to October, and UF/IFAS warns that hurricane rain will likely soak drainfield soil.

FAQ

Emergency Septic Service Questions, Answered

Common questions about emergency septic service around Lake Worth Beach and the Palm Beach to St. Lucie area. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (561) 239-5838

Will pumping the tank fix the backup?
Pumping clears built-up solids, and the state's septic guide names excess solids as one cause of failure. It does not fix a broken part or a drainfield that has stopped taking water. That is repair work, and we put that quote in writing before it starts.
Should I pour a drain cleaner down a backed-up toilet?
Skip it. Florida's septic owner's guide warns that strong chemicals and cleansers can kill the tank bacteria that help treat sewage. A backed-up toilet on a septic system needs the cause found first. Call or text (561) 239-5838 instead.
What should I do with my septic system in a hurricane?
UF/IFAS Extension advises using water sparingly in the days before a forecast hurricane. For a system with an electric pump, it says to switch the pump off at the circuit box before flooding. While the drainfield is flooded, it says to avoid using household water, including toilets. If sewage backs up after the storm, call or text (561) 239-5838.
What should I tell you when I call or text?
Tell us which drains are backing up and whether sewage is showing in the yard. If you know where the tank or the sewer cleanout is, tell us that too. The cleanout usually sits outside the house, the state's septic guide notes. Call or text (561) 239-5838.
What does emergency septic service cost?
The price depends on what the job turns out to be. Pumping a tank is one kind of job, and replacing a failed part is another. Tank size and how hard the lid is to reach matter too. We look at the job and put the quote in writing before any work starts.
Where do you offer emergency septic service?
Lake Worth Beach sits at the center of our service area. We cover about 50 miles around it, across Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. See the towns in our service area, or call or text (561) 239-5838 and tell us where you are.
