Hydro jetting clears clogged septic lines with water under high pressure. A clogged line shows up as slow drains or sewage backing up into the house. Jojo Septic offers hydro jetting in Lake Worth Beach and across Palm Beach, Broward, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. We look at the job and put the quote in writing before any work starts.
Hydro jetting reaches the lines a septic system depends on. One runs from the house to the tank, and another carries liquid from the tank to the drain field. Some homes also have a lift station that pumps wastewater uphill. If sewage is already coming up into the house, call or text (561) 239-5838 about our emergency septic service.
Tell us about the septic problem and where you are. We will look at the job and put the quote in writing.
Snaking sends a spinning blade through the pipe on a cable or rod. A sewer cleaning guide from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says rodding blades cut roots and loosen debris. The same guide says rodding may only loosen sand and grit, which then have to be flushed out later.
Hydro jetting sends water at high speed against the pipe walls. The EPA guide says jetting removes debris and grease build-up. That makes hydro jetting the better pick when grease coats the pipe or sand and debris have settled in it.
Hydro jetting cleans a pipe, but a cracked or crushed pipe still needs repair once it is clear. When the pipe at the tank's inlet or outlet has broken, that job is septic tank repair.
The pipe from the house to the tank is the sewer line. The state's septic owner's guide calls it the building sewer and says its cleanout is usually outside the house. Repairs to the drain pipes inside the house are work for a plumber.
The EPA notes that all the water leaves a house through one main drainage pipe into the tank. When that pipe clogs, wastewater has nowhere to go but back up into the house. Sewer jetting opens the line and washes the debris down into the tank.
Tree roots can work their way into this line. Fort Lauderdale's public works department warns that roots can damage the sewer pipes on private property. The EPA guide says jetting cuts roots in small pipes, but the tree stays, so the roots can grow back.
From the tank, the liquid flows out to the drain field. Many fields spread it through perforated pipes in the soil. The EPA warns that a tank full of solids can push them into the field and clog those pipes.
Florida's septic repair rule names high-pressure water jetting of drain lines as one way to repair a failing system. Every septic repair needs a permit from the county health department before work starts. The rule bars that method where the bottom of the field sits within 6 inches of the wet-season water table. In that case, the rule calls for a new field, which is drain field repair.
Federal soil maps put most of Lake Worth Beach on deep, fast-draining sand. Lower ground near Lake Osborne and the canals has wetter soils with a higher water table. A repair permit application lists the lot's estimated wet-season water table. The county health department makes the call on each repair, and we point you there.
